Ethics & Governance

Transparency and Credibility

eRECOVER is a publicly funded, multinational European project conducted under clear governance, ethical, and regulatory principles. Roles and responsibilities within the consortium are transparently defined, and decision-making structures are clearly documented.

The project is committed to responsible research and innovation, data protection, and ethical conduct. Clinical responsibility remains with qualified healthcare professionals at all times. The project website serves as an information and transparency platform and does not provide automated clinical decisions or commercial promotion.

Ethics & Responsible Research

eRECOVER is conducted in accordance with the principles of responsible research and innovation. Ethical considerations are integrated into all stages of the project, from conceptual design to implementation and evaluation.

The project aims to strengthen mental health care through supportive digital infrastructure while respecting autonomy, safety, and dignity of all users. Digital components are designed to support care processes without replacing clinical judgement or professional responsibility.

Ethical oversight is ensured through clearly defined governance structures, continuous reflection on potential risks, and close collaboration between clinical, scientific, and technical partners.

Data Protection

Data protection and privacy are fundamental principles of the eRECOVER project. The platform concept is designed in line with applicable European and national data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Personal data processing is limited to what is necessary for the intended purposes and follows the principles of data minimisation, transparency, and security. The project applies privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default concepts at the architectural and organisational level.

The project website serves exclusively as an information and transparency platform and does not collect personal health data. Any future use of digital care components within clinical contexts is subject to local data protection assessments and approvals by the responsible healthcare providers.

Regulatory Perspective

eRECOVER adopts a clear regulatory positioning. The project focuses on the development and evaluation of a shared digital infrastructure supporting mental health care pathways and does not provide automated diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.

Clinical responsibility remains with qualified healthcare professionals at all times. Digital components are designed to support orientation, documentation, and continuity of care without replacing professional decision-making.

Regulatory considerations, including medical device regulations where applicable, are continuously assessed at a conceptual level. The project ensures transparency regarding scope, limitations, and intended use of all digital components.

Trust, Compliance, and Accountability

Trust, compliance, and accountability are central to the governance of eRECOVER. Roles and responsibilities within the consortium are clearly defined and transparently communicated.

The project is publicly funded and operates under established ethical, legal, and governance frameworks. Decision-making structures are documented, and accountability mechanisms are in place to ensure responsible conduct throughout the project.

The eRECOVER project website provides transparent information about objectives, partners, and governance structures and does not engage in commercial promotion or the provision of clinical services.
