Platform & Concept
The eRECOVER platform is a shared digital infrastructure designed to support integrated mental health care in primary and community settings. Rather than replacing existing care structures, it strengthens coordination, continuity, and transparency within established care networks.

Conceptually, the platform is organised into two complementary layers:
- Network Layer – supporting the structured development and governance of regional care networks and enabling coordination and collaboration between participating providers.
- End-to-End Care Pathway Layer – enabling cross-sector, digitally supported care across an eight-step pathway that structures collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals throughout the care process.
The platform focuses on the CORE-5 groups of common mental health conditions: depression, anxiety disorders, stress and adjustment disorders, sleep-wake disorders, and somatoform disorders.
The platform follows a modular and non-automated design. Clinical responsibility and decision-making remain fully with healthcare professionals at all times.
Network Layer
The Network Layer enables the formation, visibility, and coordination of regional mental health care networks across sectors and care settings with 4 features.
Network formation
Networks can be established based on regions or specific care contexts.
Typical stakeholders include hospitals, psychiatrists, general practitioners, psychotherapists, and peer or patient organisations. Stakeholders may request participation through a structured web-based process, subject to network-specific governance rules.
Network representation and transparency
Each network is presented through a dedicated network website.
The website provides clear information about participating stakeholders, services, and care offers.
Optional geographic visualisation allows users to explore network providers (e.g., map-based display).
Public entry point to care
The network website serves as a low-threshold public entry point.
Users can access information on therapies, care pathways, and treatment processes, as well as basic psychoeducation on the CORE-5 condition clusters.
Safety and emergency information is also provided.
Access to the digital care pathway
Secure login to the digital care pathway is provided via the network website.
After login, patients receive structured guidance through all subsequent steps of the End-to-End Care Pathway.
End-to-End Care Pathway (Conceptual)
The End-to-End Care Pathway supports structured, needs-based mental health care within participating networks.
It guides patients and professionals through the full care process within 8 steps —from digital access and screening to treatment, monitoring, and relapse prevention—while ensuring clinical responsibility remains with healthcare professionals.
Target Conditions
eRECOVER focuses on highly prevalent mental health conditions that are typically managed in primary and community care. These CORE-5 condition clusters include:
- depressive disorders
- anxiety disorders
- stress-related and adjustment disorders
- sleep-wake disorders
- somatic symptom-related conditions
Together, these conditions account for the majority of mental health presentations in primary care. They are particularly suitable for early access, structured assessment, stepped care, and continuous support within network-based care models.
